Manchester United fans are understandably still in buoyant moods after their 4-0 victory over Chelsea in their opening Premier League fixture.

Their two big summer signings Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were both brilliant at Old Trafford, while Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were electric up front.

There's a lot of optimism surrounding Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side right now and United supporters may now have a new reason to be excited about the future.

Last night, the Daily Mail reported that the Red Devils are the favourites to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

Now, it's been known for a while that United are desperate to land the England international after his stunning displays in the Bundesliga.

They even tried to bring him to Old Trafford this summer, but a rumours of a deal eventually went quiet.

But this time around, things are getting serious, because Sancho is now all but certain to leave Dortmund next summer.

It's the first time that such information has been made public and the German giants are already looking for the youngster's replacement.

Manchester City - Sancho's former club - are also one of the frontrunners, but the groundwork laid by United this summer puts them in pole-position.

However, City inserted a clause into Sancho's contract which allows them to make a counter offer if any bid is made for the teenager.

Given that the Englishman's contract at Dortmund expires in 2020, it's going to take an enormous bid to bring him back to England.

He could well be the first £100m+ signing in the Premier League, with the CIES Football Observatory currently valuing Sancho at around £145m.

Another impressive season in Germany could see that number eclipse £200m.
