Alexis Sanchez's spell at Manchester United has been a disaster.

It was hoped the Chilean international would propel United back to Premier League glory.

But he has turned out to be one of the worst signings in United's recent history.

Sanchez is on £500,000-per-week but has only managed five goals in 45 games.

And his spell at the club is now coming to an end.

That's because the Chilean international has agreed a deal with Inter Milan, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Providing Inter can reach an agreement with Manchester United, Sanchez will follow Romelu Lukaku in joining the Italian club this summer.

Fabrizio Romano has given more detail, stating that Inter are trying to sign him on loan with an option to buy.

Sanchez's representatives are now in Manchester trying to find an agreement between Inter and United.

Inter will move for Fernando Llorente if a move for Sanchez fails.

The news comes just hours after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer backed Sanchez.

“Alexis is such a professional,” Solskjaer said. “He comes in every single day, working really hard, and he wants to be a part of this. Of course, there have been [media] stories again, [saying] that he has been put in the Reserves. Of course he hasn't!

“He's part of our squad and he's a very, very good player. He's just had a couple of weeks, three weeks now, so he's a few weeks behind the rest, but he's very close to being part of it.”
